Mano Europa organization was invited to participate in the Next Gen Forum organized by Jugend & Kulturproject e.V, held on 20–21 March in Dresden, Germany. The event brought together young leaders, NGO representatives, politicians, experts, and organizations to explore topics such as active citizenship, dialogue among stakeholders, cross-border collaboration and community participation, youth participation in democratic processes, and their role in policymaking.
The forum featured a diverse program, including interactive workshops, guest speakers, expert panels, and networking opportunities. These sessions provided valuable insights into what problems young people are facing and how young people can be more effectively involved in understanding and influence shaping policies at both local and European levels.
During the networking event, Mano Europa presented its YGC (Youth Green Compass) educational game to an audience of around 50 participants. The game attracted strong interest and received highly positive feedback. One of the key strengths highlighted by participants was the game’s interactive approach to European policymaking. Throughout the gameplay, participants engage with policy-related topics in a dynamic and accessible way, making complex concepts easier to understand. The discussion-based format of the game was particularly appreciated, as it encouraged collaboration and exchange of ideas among players.
Participants also valued the practical and accessible design of the game. The use of simple materials, such as Jenga-like blocks and printed cards, makes it easy for other organizations to replicate and adapt the game for their own activities. At the same time, valuable suggestions for improvement were collected. Some participants noted that certain card descriptions could be shorter and clearer. Others found the game slightly complex at first, suggesting that expectations about the level of difficulty should be better explained at the beginning. Additionally, participants recommended further clarifying the game’s ending, particularly the points-based system, so that it more clearly reflects how players’ choices align with European Green Deal policies.
Overall, the participation in the Next Gen Forum was a valuable experience for Mano Europa organization and YGC game. The feedback gathered will contribute to further improving the YGC game and strengthening its role as an engaging educational tool for young people in environmental and policy-related topics.
