On 17 December, as part of the Youth Green Compass project, Solution organised a convivial cooking workshop that took place at the Social Centre in Paris’ 20th arrondissement. The event brought together young people eager to explore more responsible eating habits while sharing the simple pleasure of cooking together.
The workshop was designed to show that sustainability can be practical, accessible, and delicious. Participants worked side by side to prepare four different cakes:
Chocolate and beetroot cake
Yoghurt cake
Carrot cake
Pear and chocolate cake
These recipes demonstrated that cooking sustainably does not require complex ingredients or advanced skills. Instead, it starts with simple, seasonal choices—and sometimes a touch of creativity, like using vegetables in desserts.
As the cakes took shape, conversations naturally flowed. Participants discussed their eating habits, food waste, and the environmental impact of what we consume every day. The kitchen became a space not only for cooking, but for reflection, learning, and exchange.
These moments of dialogue are at the heart of Youth Green Compass: creating environments where young people can question routines, discover alternatives, and turn awareness into action.
The workshop unfolded in a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Everyone had the opportunity to participate, ask questions, and contribute at their own pace. By the end of the afternoon, participants left not only with freshly baked cakes, but also with easy-to-recreate recipes and new perspectives on sustainable food.
Sometimes, change begins with small, everyday actions. At rue d’Annam, it began with flour, vegetables, and a group of young people ready to challenge their habits—one recipe at a time.
